What we do:

Pragmaticum only delivers its services directly to the business, normally through its risk and insurance departments, or via its professional advisers. We never act for insurers.

Business Interruption (BI) claims

We specialise in the business interruption aspects of claims, whether these are insured, the subject of statutory compensation, or the consequence of action by a third party.  We also provide advice and support on all aspects of the loss.

We deliver this service to companies in two ways:

1) We can assume responsibility for working with the management of the affected business unit to identify and compile the claim for loss. Once this has been agreed with management and the risk and insurance department, we present the claim to the loss adjusters acting for the insurer/captive.We then undertake the settlement of the claim directly, or provide support to the business unit’s management or other professional parties, depending on the desired model and the circumstances of the loss.

2) We can operate as a resource to support the business unit in preparing and negotiating its claim. Our support starts with advice on policy interpretation and claim structure, and can also include the following:

  • Data analysis – statistical analysis of financial and other information

  • Information gathering – collecting material information as well as financial facts

  • Communication and coordination – bridging the business unit and risk and insurance department as well as other group entities involved, and intermediating between professional bodies

  • Validation of claim components where standard company rates/prices are used – standard rates or units must be validated for policy compliance as well as potential overlap with other elements of the claim.

Pre-Loss Services

Pragmaticum provides pre-loss services that are designed to minimise losses when they occur and to facilitate the claim process. These include:

  • Modelling business interruption losses using different estimated maximum loss and probable maximum loss scenario

  • Developing, implementing and testing claim methodology and/or systems

  • Supporting corporate business continuity planning

  • Ad hoc project work.
