New Appointments

David Gamble and Bob Hickson appointed to the board

Business interruption claims specialist Pragmaticum Ltd is pleased to announce that David Gamble has joined its board as a non-executive director.

David is well known and highly regarded in the risk management and insurance industries. He is currently principal of the UK risk management association AIRMIC Academy. David took on the role of chief executive of Airmic in January 1998, a position that he held for nine and a half years, during which time he gained insight into the concerns of risk managers and how to meet their information needs.

For 25 years prior to this he lived in Japan holding board positions in several quoted companies in the paper and engineering sectors, giving him a valuable insight into the cultural as well as commercial consequences of the recent earthquake and tsunami.

David said, "I am delighted to be joining Pragmaticum's board of directors. The company is managed by an enthusiastic team who are highly experienced in both handling business interruption claims and designing rehabilitation schemes. These are important areas where risk managers often need expert assistance and Pragmaticum fulfils a very worthwhile role.

"I hope that my contribution will be to complement the team with my experience of risk managers' issues and the ability to communicate Pragmaticum's solutions clearly, avoiding technical 'jargon'. This is a young company but it is expanding steadily and I have every confidence that it will grow even more successfully in the future."

Bob Hickson joins Pragmaticum's board

In a further move to expand Pragmaticum's experienced management team, claims specialist Bob Hickson has become an executive director.

Bob started his career in claims handling by training as a loss adjuster. He then moved on to become a loss assessor and as a director of the company he was responsible for handling large complex losses until he was approached to set up the insurance claim services offering for a top accountancy practice. Some years later he was head hunted to fulfil a similar role for a competitor. His final position before joining Pragmaticum was that of client services director for this large forensic accounting group, once again focusing on insurance claims solutions.

Adrian Maurice, managing director, Pragmaticum, said: "Bob’s technical skill are excellent but as important to Pragmaticum is his experience of post loss board room psychology and his positive outlook is so important in supporting business recovery. Bob has been involved in building businesses and we look forward to him being part of our future growth.”
